General Rules
- This is an all-experience-levels, moderately literate roleplay site based off of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s version of The Phantom of the Opera.
- If you’re new to the RP world and need help, ask a senior member or an administrator! We don’t bite… at least not fatally… *shifty eyes*
- Please don’t use chatspeak in threads, roleplay or out-of-character. In the cbox it’s fine, and typos and spelling errors are completely expected. But i dunt want mah peeps tlkin liek this, k?
- For your own convenience, please have: a) read Le Fantôme de l’Opéra by Gaston Leroux b) seen Webber’s Broadway musical The Phantom of the Opera or c) have seen Webber’s movie, of the same title. While this site is set before all of the events in the story occur, it will help you to understand what it is about. (Note: I have not yet read the book *shamefaced* I really will… eventually…! But, in the meantime, if you need someone who has, go talk to *Tess*.
- Please be respectful to all members of the site. You have an opinion. That’s awesome! Guess what? Monsieur Hoity-Toity over there has a different opinion! And that’s awesome too! Please to get along, I don’t like fighting, all right?
Characters
Original Characters
- The current character limit is 2. This number is subject to change at any time.
- Please create a character within a week of your joining this site.
- There is another, smaller set of rules in the Characters board. You do need to read these too!
- Please do not start roleplaying your characters until an admin has accepted them! If you do, all threads you are currently playing that character in will be locked until your character has been accepted.
Canon Characters
- For courtesy’s sake you can only have one canon character. This does not mean you have to have one by any means, however.
- To apply for a canon that has not been previously claimed, copy the code for the character you want and paste it into a new thread with that character’s name in the title. Then fill out the empty spaces, and voila!
- To apply for a canon that has been previously claimed, you do not have to create a new thread. Simply post a reply to the existing thread with your RP example and codeword(more on this later ).
- At the end of each month, the RP examples will be reviewed and decided upon by the admins. Some categories for judging are:
- Grammar and spelling
- Ability to illustrate the character’s personality (as established by Webber/Leroux)
- Originality of the situation
- Grammar and spelling
- PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU DO NOT SUCCEED IN ATTAINING YOUR DESIRED CANON, IT IS NOT A JUDGEMENT UPON YOU, YOUR WRITING, OR ANYTHING ABOUT YOU!!! WE DO NOT MEAN TO OFFEND!!!

Posting and Threads
Out-of-Character (OOC)
- It isn’t nice to swear mmkay?
- Go ahead and start as many threads as you want – it’s good to
be active and friendly! But threads that have been inactive (e.g., no one has posted in them) for more than one month (30 days) will be moved to archives and locked. - I touched on this earlier, but please don’t use chatspeak in threads (IC or OOC).
- Please be respectful of other people’s opinions!
- Also, don’t argue. If you have a problem with someone, tell an admin or keep it to PMs. The entire board doesn’t want to know that Monsieur Hoity-Toity thinks that Mademoiselle Elizabeth is an over-rouged putain, all right?
In-Character (IC)
- I’m not going to be anal about this, so don’t worry, but try to keep your RP posts to a length of at least 5 sentences, okay? Less just doesn’t move anything along.
- Please keep your posts below a “PG-13” rating, mmkay? If you can’t, put a warning in the thread title and do the following:
- Re: swearing. Your character can swear as long as it is within that character’s personality to do so
[/li][li] Re: graphic violence. It is discouraged – unless it is the Punjabbing of Raoul, of course^^ This is not a horror show. Blood and gore do not belong here.
[/li][li] Re: sex. Nothing graphic, ever, thread-title-warning or no! This site is open to everyone, so failure to comply with this rule will earn you a permanent ban.
[/li][/ul]
[/li][li] If you need to speak OOC in an in-character post, please post in double parentheses for distinction, ((like this)).
[/li][/ul]
Other
- If you are not in favor of Phanservice, or if you think Christine was better off going with Raoul, may not be the site for you. Pale, creepy-looking basement dwellers are so much more fun than the rich nice-boy type^^
- Yes, your head admin (Me/Chris) is insane. No, that’s not likely to change anytime soon
- There is a codeword for the Create a Character and Canon Characters boards! This month it is: *Masquerade*. You do not need to bold it. You do, however, need the *’s!
